Trivandrum-based
Compu-Needs will soon join the select league of regional PC brands in Kerala by
manufacturing and rolling out computers in their own brand name. Kerala is more
popular for assembled market and regional brands such as Zenicon, Orchid and
Logtech are doing well here. Com10 will be the new brand in the stable and Compu-Needs
will roll out PCs by early next month, to coincide with the beginning of Chingam
month (according to Malayalam calendar) and Onam festival in Kerala, which is
known for bringing prosperity. “We are expecting a good start with our PC
brand. Com10 will have wide range of products catering to all segments and
retail would be our main focus in business,” said Gokul Govind, Director,
Compu-Needs.

Compu-Needs
was already into PC assembling, but only on a small-scale. “Now, we have
floated a new company called Compu-Needs IT Solutions Pvt Ltd, exclusively for
manufacturing and distribution of PCs. We have taken up space in Periyar Block
of Technopark campus for the same,” he informed.

Com10
will basically come in three series-Celeron, AMD and P4 DualCore, with wide
range of products to choose from. “We are yet to finalize the names for
different series (Platinum would be the name for hi-end models) and our PCs
would be available from Rs 13,900 to Rs 50,000, targeting home, corporate,
government and other potential segments,” remarked Govind.

The
company believes only in direct model of selling and claims to have good
presence in corporate and government segments. In retail, it has shops in
TechnoMall (Technopark) and in the city center (on Government Press Road-Near
Statue Junction). “Our major sales come from retail and we would expand to
Cochin, in the next stage,” he quipped.

Compu-Needs
is planning to give three-year warranty for its computers as inaugural offer. It
will include both onsite warranty (for 1 year only) and off-site warranty (for 2
years). “We are looking at providing quality support and service for our
customers, which will be our winning USP in the market. Com10 will come with lot
of value-additions and freebies, bundled with the product,” said Govind. The
company has a target to sell 300 machines every month.

Compu-Needs
will invest a significant amount of money and time in promotional activities,
which include newspaper advertisements, television ads (only in local channels)
and participating in expos.

On
choosing the Technopark campus for manufacturing PCs, Govind replied, it offers
all basic infrastructure facilities readily available for occupying and using
it. “Moreover, Technopark is free from bandhs and hartals, which are very
popular in Kerala,” he added.
