The MP26G-USB independently transmits web-camera signals or sends printouts
to the printer connected to this device from any wireless-enabled laptop or PC
Networking products vendor Compex Systems is launching a unique wireless
networking product that holds potential to grab the CCTV (closed-circuit
television) camera market at a lower cost. The product MP26G-USB is a wireless
router-cum-access point with two USB ports on which web-camera, hard disk drive
or a printer can be plugged in independently. The product is unique in respect
of its ability to independently transmit web-camera signals or send printout to
the printer connected to this device from any wireless-enabled laptop or PC. The
product will be introduced in January 2005 through its distributor Rashi
Peripherals in Mumbai. According to Katherine Ang, Director - Sales and
Marketing, Compex Systems, such products currently do not exist in the Indian
market. The product is highly secure with its proprietary Pseudo VLAN features
built in to it. "Very soon we would add capabilities to plug in PDAs and
other peripherals to this wireless device," she added. The company has
decided to bundle Logitech's Orbit Sphere web-camera with this product to make
it a complete solution similar to a CCTV
camera.

With the software, that comes bundled with camera, one can tilt the direction
of the camera from anywhere. "This a ideal solution for jewelry shops
because the shopkeeper need not sit in front of the TV that is fixed in a
corner, instead you can move around with a laptop and monitor the video capture
by the web-camera from anywhere within the premises or from anywhere in the
world via the Internet," says Sanjay Aggrawal, Business Manager, Rashi
Peripherals. "The product has many applications and can be used in
hospitals, airports, homes or any premises as a replacement to costly CCTV
cameras," he added.
