Compuage Infocom has been appointed as the national distributor for Panasonic floppy disk drives (FDDs) in India. This is the first time that Panasonic is officially
bringing in its FDDs in the country. The products will be sold through Compuage's 2000-strong dealer network.Â
Making inroads as the second leading FDD player Compuage to distribute Panasonic FDDs |

Currently the FDD market is dominated by Sony, which claims to have 80 percent marketshare. However, Atul Mehta, MD, Compuage Infocom hopes to garner 10 percent marketshare by the end of OND quarter and increase this to 25 percent in JFM 2003. "Since there is only one strong player in the FDD market, it will be easy for us to make inroads in this product segment," he states.
At the moment, Compuage will promote the product using Panasonic's brand name as the USP. In the future, it plans to add more product lines from Panasonic such as CD RW, CD writers and UPS batteries etc.
