CMD of EIPR India, Zaheer Khan said, "The biggest concern for us and the authorities was the sheer quantity of the seized goods and their similarity to the original product. The counterfeiters had imitated each and every component that goes into the packing of HP and Canon printer cartridges."

Police recovered tens of thousands of cartridge packs, toner stickers, security tapes, MPR stickers, silver foil and plastic tags, including hologram stickers. These were to be used to pack thousands of counterfeit HP and Canon printer cartridges and eventually sold to gullible customers as original.

Police arrested Praveen Govind Patel, who is 24 years and a case has been booked in the MIDC Police Station. The accused has been charged under sections 51 and 63 of the copyrights act 1957. Police Sub-Inspector Surve of MIDC Police Station is the investigating officer of the case. Further investigations are underway.
