The primary charter of Barrett's visit is to drive the World Ahead Program
with communities, government and academia. This program aims to enhance lives by
accelerating access to uncompromised technology with focus on accessibility,
connectivity and education.
During his trip he will visit New Delhi and a tier-4 town to see how
technology is making a meaningful difference to people's lives. Dr. Barrett's
public engagements will include an address at a roundtable for the UN Global
Alliance for ICT and Development in New Delhi and meetings with government
officials. He will also be addressing a Digital Leaders Forum hosted by the
Confederation of Indian Industry in New Delhi.
Speaking on Barrett's trip to India, Ramamurthy Sivakumar, Country Manager,
Intel South Asia said, "As chairman for UN's Global Alliance for ICT and
Development, Dr. Barrett has been actively advocating pedagogic transformation
around the world and the value that technology can provide in raising social and
economic standards globally. Intel strongly believes technology has the
potential to transform businesses, while education can shape communities at
large. Intel India has made significant progress in enhancing our efforts in the
World Ahead program, since its launch, earlier this year. We are very happy to
welcome Barrett on his eighth visit to India."
