Hyderabad-based Cygnus Microsystems, a networking products provider, is laying inroads into the international markets with its indigenously designed, developed and manufactured product range. With networking and access products design and manufacture as its forte, it is also developing a host of optimized modems for the wireline networking facility. The products, which are currently under R&D, would hit the markets in the next two years.

"We are already exporting our products though not in major numbers, but would focus more in the next three years and by then we will have a substantial product line to compete with products made in Taiwan and Korea, both in terms of cost effectiveness and technology perspective," said Cygnus Microsystems MD, Hemant
Ghayal.

"We will shortly launch a range of products constituting routers, modems and other access products. Technology is always in a state of flux and with changing trends users' requirements equally change. The USP of our product is that they would be compatible with the newer line of products. We try and optimize all our new products and see that they would be inter-operable with further products," explained
Hemant.

The company is also fine-tuning on designing and developing few modems in the wire line communication for higher speeds of data transmission between less distances. There are modems specifically designed for users whose amount of data sending is low, but the amount of data to be received is drastically high. "There are many users that fall into this category. From home users to SOHO users and others who usually send command driven requests and the amount of data to be received would be quite large,” remarked Hemant. These specialized modems would help users send and receive data at higher speeds and with ease.

The company also plans to expand its operations largely by expanding its dealer network across the country for marketing its products. Also the company's present headcount of 60 is likely to be increased by another 10 engineers over the next few months.
