D Com Computers from Mumbai is the proud winner of a brand new Hyundai Accent car under the Samsung India Electronics Ltd's (SIEL) "The $ -DOLLAR Program." The program started on February 4, 2004 and ended on April 10, 2004. It was aimed to enhance the profitability of all the IT resellers and system integrators in the country. The lucky cheque number that was chosen randomly in the computer was DSA-0328800, which belonged to D Com Computers.
According to Samsung national product head - volume IT Sonal Anand, "We saw more than 4,300 resellers and SIs participating in this contest and it was one of the biggest response that we have ever received from such a scheme. This was possible because we didn't restrict the participation and there was no minimum slab, even by purchasing one unit of 15 inch monitor rewards can be won."
The program was open on every purchase of Samsung monitors, hard disk drives and optical media storage products from a Star Elite partner, who will issue a cheque. There were four different colors of cheque depending on the product bought. Each cheque had a certain pre-defined value which will be called $amsung Dollars <$Dollars>. These $Dollars can be converted into actual rate. Every cheque in addition to having a certain $Dollar value also had a unique serial number, giving a chance to the win the mega prize of a Hyundai Accent car in a lucky draw.
SIEL VP Vivek Prakash said that partners today should concentrate on selling more and more higher end products, which will ensure higher profitability. "It is very important for the resellers to focus on value and not quantity as today it is the smart reseller who would make more margins. Partners should ensure that they lower their inventory." He highlighted the fact that Samsung would make every effort to ensure that resellers win as much profits from all the future schemes that Samsung would be launching in the coming fiscal. "We want to work closely with our partners and realize that vendors should ensure more profitability for the partners. Samsung will ensure that in future also we launch campaigns, which would ensure the growth of all our channel partners bottom line," Prakash pointed out.
SIEL team president Harry Ahn said that it is very important to be closely associated with the channel partners and make sure that the company leverages on its strengths and ensure better business propositions for the resellers. "Samsung is one of the few IT companies in India who are doing well and I would like to take this opportunity to tell our channel partners that they are very important for our future growth and we would definitely ensure that partners gain the most by being associated with Samsung," he said.
