Dedicated to the business of building and managing Internet infrastructure and delivering value-added networking services, Datacraft India Ltd (DIL) has seen a sharp downslide in its growth. It has grown only 55 percent compared to previous year's 93 percent.
In 1999-00 the company's revenues was Rs 94 crore which grew up to Rs 147 crore in the last fiscal. It has gone down in Silver Club rankings by one notch and is at 12th position.
Maintaining the growth rate in fifties this year will be an uphill task, though Dilip Kumar, President, is confident of achieving it. Says he, "There is no doubt that the market is slow in picking up. But this does not mean that there is no IT deployment."
Dilip sees big growth coming from government departments, banks and financial institutions. He also expects ISPs to strengthen their infrastructure, which is DIL's core area of competence.
Call centers is another area where DIL wants to play a major role. Points out Dilip, "Market reports say that there are roughly 240-250 call centers right now. We have established infrastructure for some of the top ones in the country."
As an end-to-end e-systems integrator, DIL provides a wide range of solutions in networking and e-business transformation. Right from the days when X.25 was the leading-edge technology, DIL has been building complex wide area and local area data networks for its customers.
DIL offers Internet routing and switching solutions at gigabit speeds to ISPs, CSPs, and VoIP providers who need large amounts of backbone bandwidth. These solutions enable service providers to meet exponential growth in demand for Internet bandwidth and bring scalability to IP-based networks.
Datacraft wants to concentrate on marketing branded products during the current fiscal and has launched iBOSS (integrated business and operation support systems), a portfolio consisting of software and services. These are meant for service providers and communication companies to help provide high-value services.
iBOSS offers a suite of business applications such as secured VPN services, voice VPN services, unified messaging, security services, Internet data centers, IP broadband services and video streaming services.
Explaining the advantages of iBOSS, Dilip Kumar says that the new portfolio of software and services accelerates time to market new services and reduces the costs of services provided.
With Internet taking the centerstage and enterprises looking at e-business seriously, Dilip thinks that security issues will provide major business opportunities for Datacraft. Branded products in the Internet security area are on the anvil.
