Dax Networks launched DX-5728MG, a high high-performance layer three
SNMP fast Ethernet Switch. The product has 24 10/100 Base-T Ports, two
10/100/1000 base T Ports and two SFP unshared ports. Priced at Rs 88,600, it is
designed to meet the requirements of workgroup and core network infrastructure
along with large and medium users.
DX-5728MG has the ability to classify traffic at the network edge and
allows network administrators to set rules based on traffic type that ensure the
availability of the required bandwidth. The product offers QoS features to
ensure that network traffic is classified and prioritized and avoid congestion
in the best possible manner. Eight levels of prioritization are provided for the
traffic QoS. Moreover, DX-5728MG also provides Rate Limiting to enable better
allocation of bandwidth.
The IEEE 802.1D, IEEE 802.1W, IEEE 802.1S Spanning Tree Protocols
prevent loops in the network topology. The switch supports tagged VLANs based on
the IEEE 802.1Q standard. Members of VLAN groups can either be dynamically
learned via GVRP or can be manually assigned to a specific set of VLANs. This
allows the switch to restrict traffic to the VLAN groups to which a user has
been assigned.
DX-5728MG features wire speed routing and a non-blocking architecture,
implying fewer dropped packets and improved routing performance. With multiple
routing features such as static routing, dynamic routing like RIP I, RIP II,
OSPF, multicast routing like IGMP v1/v2, DVMRP, PIM-DM and route redundancy
protocols like VRRP and many more, DX-5728MG ensures network flexibility and
efficiency.
The product offers enhanced security through a wide range of features
that protects the network from unauthorized users, and provides granular levels
of network access to users, and tracks where users are located. An important
feature of DX-5728MG is that it enhances network reliability by supporting a
redundant power option via an external redundant power supply unit. DX-5728MG
provides the flexibility in a cost-effective manner and increases network speed
to prevent bandwidth bottlenecks.
DX-5728MG can be managed and monitored via SNMP/RMON protocol through
computer using network management software or via an Internet web browser. This
easy-to-use application expands the pool of administrators capable of performing
complex network configurations. Network managers can import, export or modify
individual port settings, VLAN configurations and SNMP traps. Comprehensive LED
indicators are located on the front panel to assist network administrators in
troubleshooting. Port mirroring feature provides a non-intrusive mechanism for
traffic inspection across the whole switch.
