Patna-based Digital Equipment is all set to open a retail showroom in the
city. This showroom will have all the entertainment and lifestyle products like
MP3/4. IPod, LCD projector, plasma display. “We have bought a 4,000 sq ft land
space and construction has started. There is a huge opportunity in the retail
sector in B and C-class cities and Patna is one of them. Since long, we had
plans to venture into retail sector,” said Arun Rungta, CEO, Digital
Equipment.
Rungta added that he right now; they are focusing on Patna but could go
outside as and when the need arises.
Apart from IT products, the unit will also stock low and high-end mobiles
phones. “The prospect for telecom sectors is good here. People these days are
very tech-savvy and want to keep the latest mobile handsets. Seeing the huge
demand for mobile handsets, we thought of entering this sector too,” he said.
“We have high hopes from this retail outlet. The outlet has not been named
yet and approximately Rs 100 lakh will be spend on the entire set-up,” he
added further.
The company started in 2001 and was into PCs and peripherals consumables. It
has had dealings with brands like TVE-E, Samsung, Sararmata, Omcam Control
Systems HP, Venus, Compaq, Lenovo, Logitech, Microsoft and Pecon.
