District courts to be computerized

The Minister of State for Law and Justice, K Venkatapathy has announced the
government approval of the scheme to computerize the district and subordinate
courts in the country. The first phase of the project would be completed by
2007-08 at an estimated cost of Rs 442 crore.

An amount Rs 187.05 crore has been released up to March 31, 2007 to the
National Informatics Center, which has been entrusted with the task of
implementing the scheme in the various courts in the States/Union Territories.
