22.Artek Enterprises :Expanding Its Reach
Deploying projects for the railways and government agencies gave Artek's
revenue a major fillip
After entering the domain of security, storage and servers in 2007, Artek
Enterprises was able to register a decent growth of 14 percent, and its revenues
touched Rs 70 crore. Last fiscal, the company took some major steps that not
only helped it achieve better revenues but also strengthened its reach further.
It opened new branch offices in Jammu and Kashmir recently. North contributed
revenue of 91 percent to the company's overall turnover. Now the company wants
to extend its reach to the western and southern regions by bagging some large
turnkey projects in select verticals. As Artek expanded its service bouquet, new
projects started rolling in. Currently, Artek provides services like network and
system integration to the Indian Army for their two wings-Northern Command and
Central Command.
Artek also undertook projects for Kanpur-based Ordinance Factory. In the
education sector, the company deployed HP servers and nodes worth Rs 115.31 lakh
for Gorakahpur-based Madan Mohan Malaviya Engineering College.
It also implemented LAN wiring with passive components valued at Rs 6.89 lakh
for the IIT, New Delhi. In addition, Artek deployed D-Link networking devices
and Cisco routers in National Botanical Research Institute, Lucknow.
Incidentally, it was recognized as the 'Best Distributor' by D-Link for its
services offered in the areas of structured cabling.

Shifting its focus from just selling hardware to offering solutions, the
company is working towards improving its bottomline. Remote management services
is another area this company is going to tap
Ontrack's revenue for 2006-07 was Rs 67 crore, which 28 percent growth from
the previous fiscal's turnover of Rs 48 crore. It won awards from IBM Software
and IBM Systems and Technology Group among others, during 2006-07. IBM awarded
Ontrack as the Best Performing System Integrator, and the Perfect X Leadership
Business Partner 2006. Besides this Ontrack received an Asia Pacific Business
Partner Excellence award from IBM and the Highest Contributing Business Partner
award for IBM Software-Tivoli Award, for its Tivoli implementation. The company
was awarded the Best National Gold Partner 2005 by Citrix, and bagged an IBM
award for the Best Solution in Enterprise Series from IBM for their initiative
and support in the enterprise product line.
Ontrack recently announced its association with SAP/HP as one of their
premium business partners for promotion and implementation of SAP Business One,
the next generation. To further boost their growth rate in the coming year,
Ontrack has chalked out a plan, which involves starting remote management
services, sometime during the year. Also on the cards is a new branch in the
North and increased focus on its services revenue abroad. As for the number of
employees, that number may well rise from the present 175 to 198 in the coming
year.

The company is increasing its focus on the services front and will
concentrate on IT consultancy and new customer relations the year
Bangalore-based Dreamquest Infotech was one of the few companies in the
Silver Club in the solution provider category that scored a single-digit growth
of eight percent. The company registered revenues of Rs 66 crore in 2006-07, up
from Rs 64 crore from the previous fiscal.
Continuing to bank on its business of selling IT hardware and peripherals,
the company also bettered its focus on the services end. Interestingly,
Dreamquest also wants to concentrate on IT consultancy, since they believe that
opportunities in services and consultancy areas would help them grow better.
The company worked to grow all its business lines and also strengthened its
operations at its branch office in Hyderabad to enable scaleable growth. As far
as the year ahead is concerned, Dreamquest would look for betterment of its
consultancy and service option for customers, while also concentrating on
expansion in terms of product distribution.
While evaluating new customer relationships in the last fiscal, Dreamquest
also worked to ensure that its standing with all its vendors only got better.
The company works with corporates and government agencies. Some of its
international clients include Texas Instruments, Cable and Wireless, Covansys,
3M, BEA Systems, etc. Its Indian client list has RMZ Corp, Wipro, Sinett
Semiconductors, Hindustan Lever, etc.
The government agencies that Dreamquest has deployed solutions for are Bharat
Electronics Ltd, Public Works Department, Antrix Corporation, Center for
Artificial Intelligence and Robotics, Central Institute for Indian Languages,
and Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO). Its next goal is to
mark its place on the global technology map, over the next three years.

Though the past year did not see this SP clock an impressive turnover, it
is gearing up with large-scale orders and customized solutions to set the score
Lauren Information Technologies did not have a very smooth year and managed
to marginally increase its turnover from Rs 54 crore in 2005-06 to Rs 59 crore
in 2006-07. This slow growth notwithstanding, Lauren Information Technologies
bagged a large order for PDA-based sales force automation applications from
three large pharmaceutical companies. It also lapped up an order on Microsoft
.NET deployment from large corporate custoÂmers. Besides this, it will also
carry out the Lotus Notes ImplemenÂtation at a large corporate bank and at a
manufacturing company.
Among its major achieveÂment was its upgraded status to a Microsoft Gold
certified partner, which is the highest level of partnership awarded by
Microsoft Corporation. Lauren achieved this status because of its implementation
of Microsoft-based infrastructure solutions. It also achieved the IBM advanced
business partner status as a result of large implementations on Lotus Notes. To
top it all, Lauren Technologies is now an independent solutions vendor. Also
noteworthy was the tie-up with LANDesk as an Expert Solution Provider for
systems management and security management around six months back.
Lauren also introduced Translite, transport manageÂment software, which would
help the logistic companies for vehicle utilization. Additionally, it released a
new version of RAVE, a sales force automation solution specifically designed for
the pharmaceutical industry. Plans for the next financial year include the
setting up of a 1,000-seater development software center. Also included in its
plans are focusing on infrastructure solutions and services and software
development and products.
Lauren has clients across several verticals including JP Morgan, Centurion
Bank, Prudential, HSCB, HDFC, Deutsche Bank, Ernst and Young. Amongst shipping
and logistics clients, it works with DHL, AFL, Maersk Sealand; while its pharma
clients include Pfizer, Glenmark, Bayer Crop Science, Lupin, Aventis, etc. In
the manufacturing, SMB and retail vertical, the company boasts of clients like
Crompton Greaves, Siemens, L'Oreal, Philips and Pantaloons. And in the
entertainment segment it has fulfilled the business needs of MidDay, Oberoi
Hotels, SET India and UTV.
