Storage grew at a heady pace of 65% during 2002-03 over the previous year because enterprises and SMEs looked seriously at distaster recovery, business continuity planning and high availability of data. Storage is expected to grow at the same rate, if not more, this year as well. The same is the case with security. So, the leading solution providers in each city are coming together to discuss the opportunities and issues in storage and security.

Some of the issue that will be discussed threadbare include: The increasing incidence of storage consolidation, and the resultant increasing complexity in storage infrastructure from software as well as hardware perspective, makes the life of a solution provider difficult. Given this context, what should a solution provider do and what choices can he offer to his customers?

SAN and NAS have remained in focus with data explosion occurring under applications like ERP, CRM and messaging.

SMEs?

With 82,094 security breaches happening in 2002 calendar year, and the reported 42,586 breaches happening in the first quarter of 2003, security is at the top of the mind of enterprises. So, business was brisk in security during 2002-03 with Rs 145 crore coming from anti-virus and firewall solutions. But business in security solutions is changing with smarter and faster threats.
