EDITA expo ends on a high note

Erode: Erode IT Dealers Association (EDITA) organized a three-day expo recently. With 59 stalls in place, the expo saw a footfall of about 40,000 and registered business worth Rs 1.5 crore.

Last time, the event had 55 stalls and registered business worth about Rs 1 crore with 30,000 visitors.

The inauguration function was attended by Sivanesan, President, Federation of All Traders Association (Erode), B Balachandran, Erode Corporation Commissioner & President, Erode District Small Scale Industries Association, Mayilsamy, President, Erode District Small Scale Industries Association, PN Prasad, Confed-ITA, President.

TK Chandrasekar, President, EDITA, said, “It was a grand success. Most of the visitors were from home and small business segments. Laptops sales were higher than the desktops. Laptops accounted for about 50 perecnt sales, desktops for 35 percent, while other peripherals contributed 15 percent.”

The event saw a good turnout from nearby towns―Thiruchengodu, Bhavani, Kangeyam, Kumarapalayam, Gopichettipalayam, Perundurai.

Due to time factor, the association did not organize any seminar.
"This expo was the best in four years. I deal with Wipro printers, UPS and Zebronics cabinets. I have sold all my stock. My warehouse is clean now,” happily remarked N Srinivasan, VP, EDITA, and Proprietor, Vasavi Systems.

The company sold about 100 'Pebbles' multimedia CDs each day during the expo. In addition to laptops and desktops, the expo featured Biometrics attendance systems, CCTV and IP cameras.
"Many of the channel partners told me that they would be very busy for the next 10 days,” Srinivasan mentioned. Baskar, Managing Partner, ABC Infotech, who deals with HP Compaq, said, “It was definitely a quality crowd. The expo was well-organized. We sold about 25 pieces of laptops/desktops and have lot of follow-ups to do.”
Balakrishnan, CEO, BCS Computers and the key person in conducting this expo said, “It was not a watch-and-go crowd. Visitors had good technical knowledge and had thorough information on the products they wanted.”

Valedictory function was attended by C Swaminathan, Vice Chancellor, Bharathidasan University, Senthil Annamalai, Regional Manager―South, Printer Division and Prasad of Confed-ITA.
