Lucknow: Members of Lucknow Computer Vyapar Mandal (LCVM), the IT channel
association in Lucknow, are a confused lot. Sometime ago, the executive
members of the association resigned from their respective posts, and no
one has any idea why the resignations happened. Among the people who
resigned include Sanjay Gulati, President, Praveen Khanna, General
Secretary, Amit Tandon, Joint Secretary, Sanjay Dwivedi, VP, Jiveshwar
Upadhyaya, Treasurer and Gurmeet Singh Saluja, Chairman.

Giving more information on the same, Praveen Khanna, ex-General
secretary, LCVM said that a group of partners who were contesting the
September 2008 association election and could not win, later formed
their own group and started criticizing every activity that LCVM would
do. “In order to oppose the attitude of those members, the entire
executive committee resigned. However, the resignation is still under
consideration by the election committees,” he said.

However, there seems to be more than meets the eye since when approached
different members of the executive committee gave different reasons for
the en-mass resignation. Sanjay Gulati, Ex-President, LCVM mentioned, “I
was totally engaged in my business and was not able to give time to the
association. I felt that I was not doing justice to my position and
hence I took the decision to resign and it was unanimously accepted by
all the members.”

Giving a completely contrasting point of view, Gurmeet Singh Saluja,
Ex-Chairman, LCVM said, “I was shifting my business from IT to telecom
and my office location was also changing. Earlier my office was located
in the main IT market and now I am away from that area. Moreover, since
I am doing very less IT business, I thought I should resign.”

When contacted SM Wasmi, Ex-Coordinator, LCVM mentioned, “There was no
dispute among the members. We mutually decided to resign from the
respective positions because most of us were busy with our businesses
and were not able to give time to the association. So we decided to step
down. There is no other reason behind this step."

Amit Tandon, Ex-Joint secretary, LVCM refused to give any clarification
for the reason of his resignation. It is being said that LCVM may
conduct an election by the end of this year. Members informed that in
the absence of any office bearers, the members are conducting activities
or resolving issues on individual basis.“Even though the executive
members are not holding any position but they are still participating in
solving the common issues of channel partners be it related to
electricity crisis or any business problems. We are still trying to
maintain unity among the members,” commented Khanna.

It was also being said that in order to gain power, a few members of
LCVM formed their own association. However, most of the key channel
partners in Lucknow had no knowledge about this development.
