Initially, the company will target application verticals such as telemetry, credit card POS, wireless database access and security with this technology.
To promote this technology, Ericsson will organize roadshows in all the major metros. “ Our Delhi roadshow is already on and we will be in Mumbai on 6th November, 2003,” informs Jan Campbell, MD, Ericsson India.
He further adds that the company wants to create a synergy among network operators, a service providers, application developers, system integrators and end-users. “We will partner with them to deliver end-to-end wireless data solutions," adds Jan.
Mobitex technology consists of a network control center, a network switch and a base station (20 km to 30 km diameter range). This is an international standard for digital wireless data with an open application interface.
