Facebook is reportedly planning to introduce a new podcast platform soon. Once this feature is rolled out, the social media platform will also allow its users to access their favorite podcasts on Facebook and create and share sound clips from their favorite shows. Facebook sent an email to podcast users, as reported by Verge. The social media giant will allow podcast hosts to link their RSS feeds to Facebook, and the social media podcast platform will generate that automatically. News Feed posts for new podcast episodes. A PodNews report earlier this month also indicated a release date for Facebook’s new podcast feature. Facebook confirmed the launch date to The Verge around the same time, reportedly said that the new feature would be available exclusively to a handful of publishers. However, PodNews reports that several podcast publishers have received emails, indicating that this may be a more widespread roll out than initially planned.

Facebook has also issued its own terms and conditions for publishing on its own podcasts platform, which all publishers agree to before publishing. The terms and conditions seem pretty standard, but it does not detail what all social media platforms can do with podcasts published on their platforms.

The social media platform will also offer podcast publishers the option to decide whether or not they want to enable Clips. These clips of up to one minute will be created and shared by listeners to “help increase visibility and engagement”.
