Fiona Infosystems, a Mumbai-based software reseller, has bagged an
e-governance project from the Madhya Pradesh government which involves providing
and implementing software that integrate different district treasuries with the
central treasury.
Fiona is also in advanced stages of talks with the Maharashtra government for
providing software and related services for an e-procurement project. It is also
seriously eyeing the option of providing complete software support for the
Cyberage PC scheme launched by the Goa Government.

"There is an increasing awareness in different government departments
and bodies about the necessity of IT-enabling of governance. We find this as the
right time to take the first step and approach governments by offering different
products and services," says Arif Allana, MD, Fiona Infosystems. Arif tells
that the response so far has been quite encouraging. "We are also getting
recommended to other state government bodies by our existing government
clients," informs he.
Fiona has also opened branches at Delhi and Bhopal and has launched a new
division called ‘Interactive Realities’. "This new division will
completely take care of our software service business, which will become Fiona’s
main focus in the days to come," says Arif. Fiona has also recently tied up
with Macromedia for developing web-based applications. "By the end of next
financial, we aim to have at least 30 percent of our total revenue coming purely
from software services," adds Arif.
Arif also informs about working on developing a ‘Vehicle management system’
for government and large corporates. "We envision a system which would
allow government departments and corporates to efficiently manage their fleet of
vehicles offering optimum usage of resources," elaborates he.
