Gigabyte rolls out i-DNA series of motherboard

Gigabyte Technology, a manufacturer of motherboards, VGA cards and other computing hardware solutions, introduced the GA-8I955X Royal, a motherboard featuring Intel 955X Express chipset for the first time. It is targeted at PC gamers and enthusiasts. 

Gigabyte's i-DNA (Intelligent Dual Nano Architecture) series of motherboards synergize Performance DNA with Security DNA into fundamental intelligence technologies for the digital lifestyle. As such,
i-DNA motherboards target not only PC gamers and enthusiasts who push their systems to the limit, but also normal
PC users who are looking for a solid future-ready system for their home and office computing needs. 

The Intel 955X Express chipset delivers significant performance gains with variety of new generation architectures including the latest dual core processor, dual-channel DDR2 main memory,
PCI-Express interface, Intel Matrix Storage technology for improving storage reliability and performance. 

The GA-8I955X Royal can handle up to four instruction threads at a time where as Hyper Threading allows each processor core to carry out two threads simultaneously; providing multi-core server functionality from the desktop. 

Higher memory frequency leads to larger memory bandwidth and improved performance of demanding CPU intensive digital media applications. U-Plus DPS is an eight-phase power circuit designed to withstand varying electrical current levels, ensuring future processor upgrades. 

Dual Gigabit LAN provides simultaneous WAN and LAN connection at a network connection speed of up to 1,000 Mbps for both network types. It can be connected to digital audio/video appliances such as digital video camcorders, storage peripherals, MP3 players and more. With new IEEE 1394b interface that features data transferring speed of up to 800Mbps, 2 times faster than previous IEEE 1394a interface. 

Intel Matrix Storage Technology can deliver up to 80% faster storage performance with PCs equipped with two hard drives using RAID 0 data striping. Using RAID 1 data mirroring can protect against a hard drive failure by mirroring all data between two hard drives. In addition, RAID 5 offers the fault-tolerant capability to automatically back up important files, while also providing faster disk access and adding storage capacity. 

Revolutionary PCI Express interface provides scalable bandwidth for multi-purpose usage. DualBIOS prevents BIOS from virus attacks or firmware damage and provides a double security to the system that assures the PC stability. Intel High Definition Audio enables premium digital sound in the PC for an immersive surround sound experience. Additionally, Intel HD Audio delivers multiple audio channels to listen to two different streams simultaneously in two separate rooms.
