New Update

After nearly two years of its existence in India, Hitachi Data Systems (HDS), a provider of data storage solutions, is
finally getting ready to set up its channel network. The company wishes to appoint about 60 tier-two
partners by this year-end. HDS is also seriously contemplating appointing national
distributor(s) for its range of products. This initiative comes closely on heels of the company's tie-up with Network Appliances
(NetApps) for its NAS range of products.

Elaborating on the channel model, PP Subramanian, Country Manager, HDS, says, "We see a huge market potential for
storage solutions in the SME segment. We plan to capture at least 20% of this market in the next one
year. And to make this possible, we would be engaging about 60-odd partners across the country." HDS has recently launched its Thunder 9500 V
series storage systems, through which it plans to tap the SME segment. Adding further,
Subramanian, says, "Our channels would primarily comprise the  tier-2 SI partners and they would become a part of HDS' business only after
going through our certification programs."

He further adds that the company would soon be appointing a national channels manager to dedicatedly look after the
HDS' channel business in the country.
