Hitachi Data Systems (HDS) has shifted its focus from metros to remote areas and has appointed specialized SIs to address this market. It will also appoint a national distributor to provide wider reach of products and help SIs implement the company's solutions quickly and effectively. The company is expecting future growth from small and-medium sized segments where it doesn’t have any presence.

Sunil Nawani, National Channel Manager, HDS says, “The SIs will be addressing new market opportunities, mainly in the SME space. A significant chunk of our marketshare is expected to come from these markets, where we have positioned our Thunder 9500v product series.” Over the next one year, the company is expecting the SME segment to contribute about 20% of the total revenue. This is expected to rise to 60% in the next three years.

The company has already identified 20 SIs as part of its True North Solution Alliance program. This number will soon be scaled to 60.
