Howtotell.com - Microsoft’s latest anti-piracy effort

Microsoft Corporation India has launched www.howtotell.com, an interactive
anti-piracy web site, which features an easy-to-use click-through guided tour
for consumers to help them distinguish between counterfeit and genuine software.

The website provides vital information on what constitutes software piracy
and answers to frequently asked questions regarding software piracy. The web
site also has information about Microsoft´s anti-counterfeiting technologies,
such as a Certificate of Authenticity Label (COAL) and recovery solutions media
(including a new copper hologram CD).

Punit Vanvaria, Manager - Anti Piracy, Microsoft Corporation India says,
"The launch of the ´How to Tell´ campaign is in sync with our overall
objective of educating users about the perils of software piracy, providing them
with information to make the right choice."

"We believe that raising awareness in itself will contribute
significantly towards reducing the incidence of software piracy which in most
cases occurs because of ignorance," added Punit.

Microsoft´s anti-piracy campaign in India also includes a channel education
program to arm sales people with the tools and information they need.
