With the launch of its see-through scanner - ScanJet 4670 - HP announced that it will focus on innovative product lines that will contain simplified technology to sustain the leadership position in India.
Barkha Deva, HP Country Manager for digital imaging products says, "This market is being driven by the mid- and high-end segments and our strategy will be to move ahead with a complete range of scanners as the entry-level scanners are being phased out."Â
According to the latest IDC report HP holds 62.6% marketshare in the scanner market, followed by Umax with 17.9%
marketshare.
"With e-Governance, digital cameras and new devices driving this market HP plan to command the similar market with new products in fast succession," says
Barkha.
According to him, MFDs are creating a dent in the scanner market that is at a standstill. "MFDs have surely bitten a pie off the scanner market, but that is at the entry level," she added.
"Going forward, the strategy is to offer our customers with end-to-end document management solutions that are both business friendly and cost-effective", added

ScanJet 4670 is designed ergonomically to save space and gives the usage ease. The scanner is priced at Rs 17,999.
