HP hits pay dirt again in printing and imaging

Hewlett Packard has once again emerged a winner across all its businesses in
the country, according to the latest Q1 results of The International Data Centre
(IDC). HP's growth was fuelled by a major leap in its laser and inkjet
businesses as well as its consumer notebooks and home PC businesses, where HP
grew at least 10% faster than the market.

Commenting on HP's performance, Ravi Aggarwal, VP, Imaging and Printing
Group, HP India Sales said, "HP's consistent success in the IPG space is
a function of a strategy that ensures innovation in all segments and markets, a
nationwide reach that ensures product availability and post sales service, a
pricing that ensures affordability and greater technology penetration and
simplicity that ensures ease of use and enhanced productivity."

"This approach has helped HP take forward its Enjoy More proposition to
the next level of offering superior product experience to the customer", he
added.

HP expanded its channel network to reach out to more upcountry areas, thereby
resulting in higher penetration of its products. HP's 1491 retail, 370 sub
distributors and 519 business partners in over 80 locations help in ensuring a
PAN India reach, a company release said.

New innovations were focused on driving affordability, technology and product
penetration. While All in ones (AIO) started from Rs 4,999 onwards and notebooks
were priced at sub 40K. Outlining the way forward, Ravi said innovation would be
key to HP's strategy: innovation not only for products and solutions, but also
in the area of pricing, innovative ways of reaching out to the customer and
innovative channel initiatives and programs.

Setting the pace for the year ahead, HP has also launched nine new products
across the entire Imaging and Printing portfolio. The products include: HP
Designjet 90, HP LaserJet 1020 and 1022, HP LaserJet 4345, HP LaserJet 3030mfp,
HP Business Inkjet 1000, HP Color Laserjet 2840, HP Deskjet 9808, HP PSC 1410
and HP Photoprinter 335.

Commenting on the products launched, Ravi said, "We are accelerating a
shift from single function devices to AIOs and photo printers. We are also
encouraging increased use of color printers in offices. Our new products
complement these trends."
