Hewlett Packard has extended its consumer electronics product portfolio by launching three home cinema digital projectors. The products include an integrated DVD player, built-in subwoofer and 2:1 surround sound.
"These projectors are aimed at the home segment and deliver the size, sound and visual impact of a big-screen cinematic experience. The company's move to enter this segment is an indication to bring about convergence of technologies," explained HP India Imaging Products Country Category Manager, Manu Sharma.
To better market these products, the company is entering into a marketing agreement with JBL. "As this is a specialized niche for us, JBL will market these products from its 14 outlets in the country. We will also do marketing with the help of around 15 premium retail outlets in India," he added.
The three models launched by the company include EP 9012, EP 7122 and EP 7112. The company has priced these products between Rs 80,000 to Rs 1.1 lakh. "The size of the home projector market in India is expected to be around 5,000 units for 2005. We want to start with establishing our channels presence and then would work towards gaining marketshare in the next three to six months," he informed.
