Huawei Technologies has appointed HCL Infosystems as its India distributor
for datacom products. The company recently started marketing these products.
Huawei Director, Wenhe Gong said, "We have been contemplating introducing
these products in India for quite sometime. We wanted to have a proper channel
structure for distribution of these products and decided to appoint HCL
Infosystems as our national distributor."

Ever since Huawei has launched datacom products in India, it has been selling
these directly to corporates. The company has decided to continue with direct
selling model to corporates. The products include routers, LAN switches,
security and VPN, VoIP, WLAN, IP telecom and network. In the datacom segment,
the company has direct competition with Cisco. Huawei has around 38% market
share in China and is the leading datacom provider according to IDC.

The company will also continue to sell other telecom equipments that include
CDMA handsets to corporate directly. The company has partnered with HFCL for
bidding in government sectors and is awaiting approval from FIPB to bid directly
in government organizations to sell its products. The company would soon launch
products based on 3G platforms. The company generated revenue to the tune of
$100 million last year and is expecting triple digit growth this year with
revenue crossing $200 million mark this year.
