IDLDPL begins operations in the East

India Digital Life Style Distributors Pvt Ltd (IDLDPL) has recently opened a
branch in Kolkata. The company deals with branded lifestyle products and gadgets
like, MP3 and MP4 players, i-pods and laptop accessories, headphones, speakers,
PDA phones, digital cameras, bluetooth devices, external hard disks and other IT
accessories. The major brands that IDLDPL distributes are, Asus, Lacie, Parrot,
Creative, Pentax, Yes, Logic3, Elecom, etc.

According to Asish Sharma, Area Manager-East, IDLDPL, "As the market is
maturing in East, the demand for these products is escalating. The market in
this region is witnessing rapid growth and there are lot more areas which are
still unexplored and therefore, the potential is huge. We were planning to start
our eastern India operation and now we are finally here."

The company has set a target to achieve 25 percent marketshare in West Bengal
by this quarter-end. Presently, operational in Kolkata the company has appointed
several partners, and is looking to increase the number. By February-end, it
will start operations in Guwahati, Bhubaneswar and Raipur followed by Siliguri
and other places in West Bengal and northeast. "Next we will move to
Jharkhand and Bihar. Our major thrust area is going to be channel, retail,
corporate and institutional sales. In fact, retail is going to be a major area
of focus for us," he informed further. The company is tapping up IT and
telecom retail stores as well as the large format retail stores.

"There has been an impressive growth in the product segment that we are
dealing with in East. We feel in next couple of years, this market will see a
major boom. One major challenge IDLDPL will face is the threat from gray
market," he said while adding, "We are also gearing up to counter the
threat. We feel that the only way to counter it is creating awareness among the
end-users and make our products more easily available. Therefore, we are
preparing to promote our products as well as enhance our reach across the
region."
