Ikon keyboards enter market

Chennai-based Icon Household Products (P) Ltd, a start-up company promoting

Ikon brand of IT products in the market, has launched Ikon professional

keyboard. Priced at Rs 890, Ikon keyboards are key switch based instruments

with a life of 55 million operations per switch. It has 104 keys. "We have

been doing business in the IT field as an OEM partner for several leading IT

companies. Now, we are coming out with our own brand," says R Nagarajan,

Project - Head, Icon Household Products.

Icon Household is also launching PC camera called V-Cam through a tie-up

with a Taiwan-based company. "V-Cam is a leading OEM manufacturer for the

global market and the product is priced at Rs 1,750 in the local market in

Chennai," he says.

Presently, the company is establishing a channel network to market its

products and initially it is concentrating only in the South India markets.

"We will be appointing four distributors in each state under whom a dealer

network will be established," says Nagarajan. The company expects to sell at

least 20,000 keyboards by March 2003.
