Yes, Indian telecom services are complete failure in Toudetatta and Patengoudak villages of Kalimpong block near Darjeeling district. While Indian SIM does not work in this geography, cashless economy and Digital India dream is far away.

Many people have BSNL SIM, but, to use BSNL service, one has to cover 18km to find signals. Therefore, people living near Bhutan’s border are bound to use Bhutanese SIM.

It is a big problem; people residing here suffer a huge monetary loss using Bhutan Telecom Services. At least 2500 people are using Dzongkha SIMs. And they had to pay huge bill up to 3500 per month coz of ISD rates. It actually cost Rs. 4 per minute on outgoing calls, while, incoming call charge is deducted 1 per minute.

Bhutanese SIMs are easily available plus recharge cards are handy too as there is no alternative.
