Intel has introduced three new mobile processors in its Centrino range for
laptops. Code named Dothan, the Intel Pentium-M processors 735, 745 and 755 are
the first mobile processors built on 90 nanometer technology. These are clocked
at 1.7 GHz, 1.8 GHz and 2 GHz respectively. The company claims that the new
processors will enhance wireless users to work, play and communicate better.

The new Dothan processors will include improvements in manufacturing, use of
strained silicon wafers for better performance, doubling the number of
transistors while keeping the power consumption the same, power efficient cache
memory and architectural enhancements.

The new processors come a year after Intel introduced its Centrino
processors, which featured power efficient performance with wireless
capabilities. The Dothan processors enable the use of many wireless applications
such as watching live video, CNBC’s Wireless Traveler and on air
entertainment.

The launch of the next generation Centrino chipset "Sonoma" figures
on the company’s road map later this year.
