Intel recently started a weekend program with its GIDs to run on successive
weekends across the city. As part of the program GIDs put up stalls in parks,
shopping complexes and housing colonies during weekends.
After its mobile GID program, Intel has come to enjoy considerable success
with the weekend activity too. Says MK Gaur of Apollo Computers, "The
response to the program was overwhelming." Citing his experience, Gaur said
that the sales conversion ratio was as high as 40 percent during the program,
while in roadshows and other similar activities this ratio could be as little as
three percent.
Harpreet Anand of Linkers International agrees and adds, "Easy finance
options have contributed to the success to a large extent." Says Raju
Minocha of CNC, "The support extended by Intel officials has been a prime
reason for success." Intel and the GIDs together are also planning variants
of the program.
GIDs have taken the program to offices where employees can get a touch and
feel of a Pentium 4 PC during lunch hour. Says Gaur, who organized it for
employees of a five star hotel in the city, "We achieved considerable
success there too." Other GIDs are planning similar activities once the
board examination results are out to attract the student community.
