Maharajan Veerabahu, Co-Founder and Vice President, Product Design Services of e-con Systems speaks about his embedded vision cameras.
How much of your products do you manufacture in India and what % do you import from foreign countries?
Maharajan Veerabahu - E-con Systems is an innovation leader in embedded vision cameras. We not only manufacture the camera systems but design them for optimal performance and compatibility with our client’s products. All our products are 100% manufactured in India. We import parts like semiconductor chips, sensors and components from other countries but manufacture the working product here in India.
Till date, e-con systems has over 50+ camera products in-house which are in more than 300+customer products designs for our customers in various industries like autonomous mobile robots, smart farming, smart traffic, life sciences and healthcare, autonomous retail shopping, and sports broadcasting services, among others.
We do not directly manufacture. We have third party EMS partners who manufacture the cameras in large numbers as per the design requirement. The cameras are then directly shipped to the customers and our distributors.
To what countries do you export and how do these markets compare with Indian markets in terms of market stability, consumer expectations and profitability?
Maharajan Veerabahu - Our designs have been turned into functioning products and shipped to more than 90 countries across the globe. Our major markets are USA, Germany, South Korea, Japan, parts of western Europe.
We work with customers who are the best in the world in their industry. The major expectations from customers are technology and quality. They want to have the latest in technology and ability to deliver that technology with quality in volumes. With continuous innovation in the field, e-con Systems is able to deliver stable latest technology to our customers quickly. In many cases, we are first in the world to come out with implementation of certain new technologies with the best stable performance.
A satisfied customer is our utmost priority and our huge team of engineers and designers customize and ensure that our product fits and is perfectly compatible with that of our customers. One of our biggest business drivers is the positive reference from our customer base
In which direction is the technology used in these products evolving in the next 2-3 years? Is it being evolved in India or are you importing the technology?
Maharajan Veerabahu - Cameras and image sensing technology is evolving at a rapid pace in the world. The demand for automation in various fields right from automotive, industrial, medical and retail segments has increased the demand better image sensing and processing technologies. Adapting these new technologies for specific use cases and building products is a very niche skill which e-con Systems has mastered over time.
For instance, the new application use cases like Autonomous Mobile Robots, Smart Farming, Smart Checkout systems, patient monitoring etc. require implementation of latest imaging sensor technologies and building camera sensor products with smartness. e-con Systems is doing this from India. All our R&D happens in India and these products are designed completely from India. The technology is being developed and exported out of India to the rest of the world.
