The newly formed Information Technology Association of Tripura (ITAT) is all
set to organize its first ever IT exhibition. The expo slated to be held in May
would be displaying latest technologies and products for the end-users as well
as IT resellers.

Speaking on the development, Biswanath Das, President, ITAT remarked that the
people of Tripura are very keen to upgrade themselves to the latest technology
offerings. “However, it is lack of proper knowledge and availability of
information that is preventing them from having a clear picture of the products
and buying accordingly. This expo will provide dealers with a platform wherein
they can showcase their offerings, as many small resellers are not even aware of
all the brands or products available and their authenticities/utilities. “May
is the time when the market remains buoyant and yields good business for us each
year. We are pretty confident that this show will give the buyers better
opportunity and deals,” said Das.

“We are planning to put around 50 stalls and pavilion wherein we are
planning to invite IT dealers, distributors from across East and vendors apart
from our association members to participate,” informed Das. “Since this is
our first such effort, we are taking every possible care to ensure a smooth
running of the show. Also, we are delegating the task of organizing the event to
a local, experienced event management company so that the expo can provide a
professional platform to both the exhibitors as well as the visitors,” he
added.

Das also mentioned that ITAT is looking for sponsors for the event. “However,
we are a bit apprehensive that its our first such event and that too in Agartala,
which is a upcountry region, so the principal companies might not show much
interest. We therefore would like to ensure that the IT penetration in Tripura
slowly increases and with such initiatives, it will further help the market to
boom to its potential,” opined Das.

Meanwhile, ITAT lent their support to a recently held event in Agartala by
Western Digital India. “As an association, we appreciate such moves by the
principal companies since these events help the dealers to shuffle their
knowledge about the products they are selling. This also helps to boost the
morals of the dealers and hence, we invite other companies to organize such
dealer meets or seminars; and the association is ready to support them,” said
Das.
