Juniper Networks has doubled the size of its research and development

(R&D) center in Bangalore. The center at the Embassy Prime and Bagmane Tech

Park, now has capacity for over 1,200 staff.

The expansion, to over 2,50,000sq ft of floorspace, comes after five years

its first R&D center began operations with a staff of 30 engineers. Today,

900 engineers and support staff are based there, using 750 racks of equipment

and a laboratory with system, interoperability, solution, scale and performance

test beds.

“The Bangalore facility is now Juniper's largest R&D center outside

the US and it continues to grow rapidly as the company invests in R&D,”

said Sridhar Sarathy, MD-India operations, Juniper Networks. “A quarter of

Juniper's engineers are based here, and they contribute to all stages of

product development and to all product lines,” added Sarathy.

A dedicated switching team, which started working in June 2006 and

contributed significantly to the EX-series of Ethernet switches launched in

January this year, is also based in the Bangalore facility.

“Our combined sales and engineering teams here have grown from 650 in 2006

to over 900 to date and with the increased capacity of the facility in

Bangalore, we expect that steady growth to continue,” said Nagendra Venkaswamy,

MD-India and SAARC, Juniper.
