Jupiter International and its in-house brand, Frontech through its subsidiary
have set up a CDR manufacturing facility in Baddi. The plant has been set up
with technical collaboration with Singulus Technologies, Germany.
The major emphasis has been on providing optical media products to the Indian
market. The equipment and technology supplied by Singulus enables the company to
produce CDRs matching world standards at Indian prices.
In the first phase the company will market 40 Million CDRs in India apart
from exporting to selective business alliances in West Asia, East Europe, South
Asia and Africa. In the second phase in July 2005, it will double the production
capacity in the Baddi plant and will additionally start manufacturing fourth
generation DVDRs to meet the growing demand of technologically savvy and quality
conscious customers in Europe and USA.
The CDRs produced at the plant in Baddi will be marketed in India by the
brand name Frontech and Frontech Plus for the premium end. According to Alok
Garodia, MD, "Indian markets need a secure medium for storage of data,
which would be affordable by all segments of users." The Frontech Plus
branded CDRs incorporate Data Vault Technology that enables superior archival
life.
