After completing graduation from BITS Pilani in December 1984 as an instrumentation engineer, Jaipur based Kailash Gupta established ETSC Computers, formerly known as Electronics Trade & Service Center (ETSC) in the year 1985. He started his business operations with a mere capital investment of `50,000, out of which `20,000 was saved from his first service tenure at New Engineering Enterprises, where he worked as a R&D engineer. ETSC began his operations catering to service requirements of various electronic/industrial equipments in several pharmaceutical/industrial units in Rajasthan.
Later in 1987, after having established in this segment as well as in the government vertical, the company started omputer Literacy and Studies in Schools (CLASS) project and diversified into education segment for sales and services. In the year 1991, ETSC made a jump in its sales strategy by partnering with Wipro as an exclusive distributor for its peripherals range and services in entire Rajasthan. This helped ETSC build an image of an authorized Wipro vendor in Rajasthan, thus capturing major customer base.
Since 1995, ETSC has been expanding its product portfolio by strategic sourcing and tie-ups with various distributors and vendors. Moreover in the same year, the company consolidated its business and therefore, ETSC was rechristened as ETSC Computers.

Challenges
The biggest challenge for the company in the beginning was to establish itself in the industry, as there was a lack of market understanding, products, and services at that point of time. "Thanks to the guidance of my brother, who was already an established businessman, my initial introduction to his clients really helped in building on to the challenges," recalls Kailash Gupta, director, ETSC Computers.

Current Business
The current turnover of ETSC is `2.5 crore. The company is planning to increase its customers base for its complete range of products and solutions. It has plans to focus on SMB, education, and security and storage segments with focus on solutions. One of the major projects, which company took recently was the delivery and integration of more than 2,000 billing printers to the agro-dairy sector within 6 months.
Looking at its current business, the company is into the business of providing complete IT solutions to SMB, corporate, govt and education segments. It has major collaborations with vendors like Wipro, HP, IBM, WeP, Epson, Microsoft, Cisco, etc, for its entire range of products and solutions. For Gupta, the key milestone of his company is getting recognized from principle vendors at various occasions. ETSC Computers follows ethical business practices with utmost clarity on pre- and post-sales commitments. "We believe in providing value to customers and the same is incorporated in our functions at all levels. We emphasize on clarity in all commercial transactions with vendors/distributors and customers."
