Chennai: Chennai-based Karomi Technology is coming up with its domain-specific
Document Management System (DMS) applications for various verticals.
The company targets to collaborate with at least 10 partners in the
North-West region of India before 2010. It then intends to focus on
developing reseller programs for SMBs and enterprise partners by early
2010.
“Even though generic DMS solutions take care of most common
requirements, they do not solve specific pain points in vertical
applications. These are domain-specific, and are required to make a
foolproof solution. Hence, we decided to bring out separate DMS
applications for different solution areas,” said Vilva Natarajan, CEO,
Karomi Technology.
He claimed, “Despite being a specially tailored solution,
organizational requirements vary and
the same DMS must be tweaked to suit their needs. Uniqueness of our
products lies in the fact that they are highly configurable. It offers
customers the benefits of creating custom-tailored solutions, while
still being a standard out-of-the-box product.”
According to Natarajan, the generic DMS market will get saturated by the
next three years, and specialized/niche solutions will be in demand. He
also predicted that DMS will become a part of the infrastructure and
will be offered as a default by storage vendors.
Karomi's current strategy is going to market with products that
complements its solution. It is in discussion with vendors/SIs who deal
with products, such as scanners, storage devices and servers. The
company offers a document management system as a value-addition scheme
for their customers.
“Partners associated with us can build a long-term sustainable business
with the client by cross-selling and up-selling our range of products
all the way up to our enterprise solutions,” mentioned Natarajan.
The company also plans to take these new products to the geographies,
namely Africa, Middle-East and Latin America, where it is currently
selling its enterprise products.
Karomi has DMS solutions in the areas of quality management, digital
asset management, patent management, legal contract management,
engineering drawing management and employee record management. This
company specializes in providing document management and workflow/BPM
automation solutions. It had been selling primarily in enterprise space.
And is now venturing into a channel route, concentrating mainly on
traditional hardware channel partners and resellers.
