Kobian Singapore Pte Ltd, a distributor of computer peripherals and hardware in Eastern Europe and ASEAN countries, has tied up with Fujitsu International for the distribution of their HDDs.

Talking about the tie-up, Sunil Sharma, Managing Director, Kobian India says, “Today, the Indian HDD market is dominated by Seagate and Samsung who hold about 70 and 20 percent market share respectively. We believe that this field can easily accommodate another player. Given Fujitsu’s brand name and quality products, we will surely be able to try and position Fujitsu as yet another prominent player in this market.”

Kobian is also looking out for exclusive distributors who will specialize in Fujitsu’s HDDs. Says Sunil, “We have a well entrenched channel network with two national and two regional distributors. What we are now trying to do is appoint two-three channel partners who will sell only HDDs as against our entire range of products.” Kobian is also a manufacturer of a range of IT products under the brand name Mercury. The worldwide annual sales turnover of the company was Rs 517 crore for 1999. Projection for the year 2002 is Rs 1125 crore.
