HCL Infosystems launched its second new-age concept store HCL DigiLife in
Kolkata. The 1,000 sq ft shop located at central Kolkata aims to offer complete
digital solutions under one roof and will display entire product range of HCL,
Toshiba and Nokia handsets.
"HCL DigiLife is our next-generation retail offering for all customers," said
Rajendra Kumar, Executive VP-Frontline, HCL Infosystems. The store has been
opened in joint partnership with HCL and Computer Gallery. "Since the world is
shifting towards retail we were planning to enter into the retail business. This
opportunity provided us the platform to start off our first retail venture,"
said Praveen Puglia, Director, Computer Gallery.
The store will focus more on the multimedia and entertainment gaming PC
series from its Beanstalk range as well as laptops. "The way convergence is
taking place today and people are shifting towards lifestyle products, this
store will act as a perfect stop for the gizmo freaks wherein they can drop by
to experience our product ranges," remarked Kumar.
HCL has plans to open about 100 DigiLife stores across India during this
financial year. In eastern India, HCL is aiming to set-up around 50 odd DigiLife
stores. Presently, there are two stores in Kolkata and one in Jamshedpur, which
are operational. Apart from this, three more in Kolkata and one each in Guwahati,
Siliguri and Bhubaneswar are expected to get operational within next quarter.
