J ust when LG Electronics was getting a feel of its success with the new
regional distribution model, the market was abuzz with the news that LG is
toying with the idea of selling its IT products through consumer electronics
outlets. However, Ganesh Mahalingam, GM (Marketing). LG Electronics was quick to
clarify to the channel that these are all rumors.
According to him, the new regional distribution model has helped them achieve
70 percent rise in its sales, and has no reason why it should look at consumer
durable outlets for
selling IT products. Say Ganesh, "It would be suicidal for us to sell
monitors or optical storage products through consumer electronics shops. But we
are sure that our competitors are way behind in the OSD business and now we want
to be No 1 in the monitor business as well.
Ganesh was in Mumbai to clarify LG’s position to channels and introduce the
new West Zone Marketing head, Rajeev Saxena. Meanwhile, LG has appointed Sanjeev
Jain to head the South region as Marketing Manager. He was earlier with Philips
as Marketing Manager (IT products).
