LG expands its IT peripherals portfolio

An Internet-ready multimedia keyboard, an optical storage device 32XCD-RW and two new LCD monitor models in 18 inch and 23 inch are the latest additions in the LG range of IT peripherals. 

At the press conference following the inauguration of LG’s exclusive shoppe showcase at Shweta Computer in Hyderabad, the sales and marketing DGM of LG Electronics IT division R Manikandan unveiled the company’s plans for Andhra Pradesh. "We are riding on the home and Soho segment," says he. 

According to Manikandan, the company has cornered about 51% of monitor marketshare in Hyderabad alone with Vijaywada and Vizag closely following. In the OSD segment, the company claims to lord over 47% of Hyderabad
marketshare.

Announcing the festival season offers Manikandan says, "With a PC of PIV configuration costing Rs 31,500 we are giving freebies worth Rs 27,000." The freebies include Lotus smart software, family manager software, gaming wheel and zero percent finance among others. The company is also offering a holiday package of two days and three nights stay in one of the 28 locations in India and abroad to lucky customers on the purchase of a 17-inch monitor. 

According to the company the My Key keyboards feature seven extra multimedia keys to control multimedia functions like volume control, play stop, rewind, etc and four special keys for seamless Internet surfing and two power control keys to shut down the PC and put it in a power save mode. It is priced at Rs 650.

The optical storage device - GEE-8525b 32X CD-RW has 2MB buffer with buffer underrun prevention technology and supports drag and drop CD copying with Mt Rainier standards. The drive is priced at Rs 2,400.

The two new monitors: L1811S 18-inch and L2320 A 23-inch feature the light view technology which allows the user to adjust brightness and color temperature according to the computing situation - day or night and photo movie and text. The monitors are wall mountable and are priced at Rs 55,000 and Rs 2,25,000 respectively.
