LifeSize Communications to expand India operations

Austin-based LifeSize communications, which works to develop and deliver high
definition video communications products, is all set to expand its India
operations. On the anvil is the appointment of new partners as well as adding up
to the head count at its R&D center in Bangalore.

“Currently we are working along with two of our partners here in India who
include Plus Business Machines of Mumbai and Visionaire in Bangalore. We would
be looking to appoint one more partner out of Delhi very soon. Additionally we
would also look at increasing our employee strength from five to 20 at the
R&D center in Bangalore over the next six months,” said Raghu Belur,
Director of Engineering, LifeSize Communications.

Working along with its channel partners, LifeSize would focus on the
verticals of government, telemedicine as well as BFSI sectors here in India, in
addition to tapping opportunities in the education sector, especially
interactive and long distance education. “We are having talks with the CSIRs
as well as institutes like the IISc to see how best we can make use of the
opportunities in this sector,” said Belur.

Indicating that LifeSize is not looking at too many partner sign-ups, Belur
said that the Company would prefer those partners who are already working in the
AV and video conferencing space. “While looking at resellers, which we are
also doing, we would look for those people who are motivated enough to sell
high-end solutions like ours. We would provide our partners all the necessary
training as well as sales support for our solutions,” he added.

While continuing to focus on the enterprise sector, LifeSize is also set to
launch many new products that are price-competitive for the non-metro kind of
markets here in India.
