The challenges of being a woman top executive

"We often think we need to act like men. Emotional quotient is barrier at times and work and family both have to be in perfect harmony. Harnessing support from other women leaders is also challenging at times.," says Seema citing practical barriers.

Educational background

Highly qualified with a bachelor degree in Electronics, MS Computer Science & Engineering doctrate with the research subject - Multi-dimensional query optimization for Big Data

 

Family Background

Her father is a retired executive of Britannia India while mother is a home maker. Seema's husband Ajay is COO, Dolphin Inks. Blessed with two kids--son Abhinandan, who is studying comp science in USA and daughter , Aakanksha, a class 9th student

Working in Male-dominated field of IT:

Immune to dominance, Seema enjoys working irrespective of gender dominance.

 

Does a Glass ceiling exist?

Seema believes that it may exist, but does not prevent women from making progress to top jobs in country.

 

Advice to working women

Be proud of juggling priorities, think creative and learn to live with guilt.

Hobbies

Avid State level swimmer with many distinctions, Very avid bird watcher, nature lover, tutoring children, tutoring underprivileged, travel and leisure.

Future plans

Retire satisfied and enjoy the rest of life. Education is dear to Seema's heart. Would like to see every child in India educated some day and it's her dream to see India free of starvation. Begin/join an NGO dedicated to women and child education and empowerment.
