Luminous Power Technologies is all set to expand its channel base across the country and is also increasing its manufacturing capacity by setting up its third factory in Baddi, Himachal Pradesh.
Luminous currently has 4,500 channel partners across the country and is planning to increase that to 6,500 partners by March 2008 and to12,000 by the end of next year.
“We already have a robust presence in the entire north region and now we want to focus more on western and southern part of the country, for which we have tied up with Iris Computers,” said Sunil Bhalla, Director, Luminous Power Technologies.
The company plans to focus on verticals like education, corporate and government for which it has decided to appoint specialized partners numbering about 100 across the country in the next six months. These partners would be imparted with the required training from the company.
Meanwhile the new factory for Luminous would be operational from February 2008 and will manufacture VRLA batteries used in UPS. Its manufacturing capacity is said to be two million units per annum. This will be the third plant of Luminous in India.
According to Bhalla, “The company has marked 100 percent growth in year 2006-07 and is expected to be around 80 to 90 percent for 2007-08. Our objective is to touch Rs 11,000 crore by 2009-10. We are moving towards this by strengthening our channel presence and expanding aggressively in C and D-class cities.”
The company will also set up another manufacturing plant in China that is likely to be operational in January. The China plant would manufacture batteries for export purpose.
