“While distributors act as fulfillment agents, these partners are the interface for our system integrator customers. This is why we are working closely with them to imrpve our brand recall,” says Yogesh Kamath, Sales Manager-India, Maxtor International.

At the same time, he maintains that its national distributors are not being sidelined. “We are gearing up with the tier-two partners, so that this will result in better business for our distys and ultimately for us,” he explains.

Maxtor is also extending its gold coin scheme from the AMJ to the JAS quarter as well. “The response we recieved for the gold coin scheme was overwhelming and so we have decided to continue it in the next quarter as well,” says Yogesh. Under the scheme, partners who sell 100 units of its HDDs within two months, starting July, will qualify for the reward. In the AMJ quarter, partners who sold 50 units got the gold coins.

“The reason we have decided to continue this scheme is because we want to incentivize partners with better margins without permitting discounting. We have not divulged the value of the gold, so partners can't discount it,” adds
Yogesh.
