Transcend International has entered the mobile storage market in India with the introduction of seven new products, which will distributed by Mediaman Infotech. These include Compact Flash, IDE Flash module, IDE to IDE RAID, JetFlashA, JetFlashM, MJFlash and Transcend Flash.
The CompactFlash can be used with digicams, while the JetFlashA is used for data backup. IDE to IDE RAID can be installed within the PC and will carry out parallel mirroring of data, alongside the HDD. All products can be connected to any device that has a USB port.
These mobile pocket drives are priced according to their storage capacities. Entry-level models are available for Rs 5,500 for 6GB, Rs 6,750 for 20GB and Rs 9,750 for 40GB. All these products use silicon wafer technology and data can be written and erased numerous times.
Says Dushyant Mehta, MD, Mediaman, “The existing storage technologies are limited to magnetic platter HDDs and optical disk drives. There are very few players who are completely focused on providing mobile storage devices which can be kept in your pocket," adding that there is a huge demand for these devices in the Indian market.
Dushyant informs that since these products imbibe the silicon technology, the failure rates are very low. “In case there is any problem with the product, we offer over-the-counter replacement through our 23 branches,” claims he.
Mediaman has already seen good response from corporate buyers and educational institutes for these products. It will also offer these devices to OEMs for bundling with their products.
