Microsoft teams with AirJaldi to aid internet access for the marginalized in 12 states

In a three-year partnership, Microsoft and AirJaldi Networks, known for their successful internet connectivity solutions in rural areas, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). The program, named 'Contentful Connectivity,' seeks to promote high-speed internet access and meaningful connectivity as a basic right. Through collaboration with private, public, and non-profit sectors; Furthermore, the initiative aims to address broadband adoption and drive digital transformation, ultimately benefiting the marginalized communities in India.

Over the next three years, the program will cover:

AirJaldi Networks Expansion to three new states 

Namely, Telangana, Chhattisgarh, and Odisha, with an increase in the number of network locations from 40 to 62 in 12 states. An addition of 1,500 km of a fiber network will help reach out to 20,000 km2; thereby providing access to the internet to nearly 500,000 underserved beneficiaries.

Reinforce AirJaldi Networks in nine states

Boosting the wireless and wired infrastructure and helping the extension of reach and connectivity provision for marginalized community users. AirJaldi Networks will deploy, implement, and test new connectivity technologies, approaches, and connectivity-related solutions. Moreover, It will improve the quality and richness of services offered and the sustainability of the networks.

Running Entrepreneurship, education, and skills-based programs 

Microsoft will enhance training programs for women entrepreneurship and rural connectivity. It will benefit 15,000 underserved community members, especially women, youth, and high school students in 12 states. The comprehensive approach includes in-person training, online sessions, Microsoft Community Training platform courses, and round-the-clock support from a learning help desk for course assistance and career guidance. Subsequently, Modules on digital productivity, employability skills, and AI fluency will be integrated into the training.

Build Internet of Things (IoT) based connectivity-related solutionsfor internet access

In the rural regions on networking, e-learning, skilling, telemedicine, agriculture, accessibility, and environment transform the livelihoods and well-being of enterprises and communities.

Establish collaborations with government and corporate entities for sustainability. 

In three states where the networks are getting created in the areas of education, diverse skills for jobs, and women's entrepreneurship.

Furthermore, Cook added, “Beyond solving for internet access to help the country’s digital capabilities continue to grow. Microsoft expects this expanded access to the internet. It will also help these beneficiaries to enhance their digital productivity, AI, and employability skills.”
