NECTA's first expo successfully completed

The first IT exhibition organized by the Northeastern Computer Traders
Association (NECTA) got positive response from industry players as well as
end-users. Gautam Baruah, Director IIT-Guwahati and Moninder Jain,
Director-South Asia, Logitech Electronics jointly inaugurated the expo recently
at the Nehru Stadium in Guwahati.

Around 12,000 people visited the event and around Rs 2 crore of business was
generated. Customers booked 250 laptops in three days. The expo was also visited
and supported by personalities like Prafulla Kumar Mahanta, Former CM,
Government of Assam and PK Das, Development Commissioner-Special Economic Zone
(East), Software Technology Park of India. "This is very encouraging for us
since the entire effort was lauded by the state government," said Pawan
Agarwalla, President, NECTA.

Logitech sponsored the IT Northeast expo, while Canon and Lenovo were the
co-sponsors and Compaq was the associate sponsor. Around 44 stalls were put up
in the expo, which witnessed participation from vendors like Logitech, Lenovo,
HP, Acer, Intel, Microsoft, Sandisk, Compaq, Netgear, D-Link, Emerson, LG, Sony,
Western Digital, Quick Heal, HCL, Wipro, Supertron, etc.
