New Update

Mumbai-based IT distributor Neoteric Informatique is attempting to don the hat of a systems integrator, thanks to its newly

formed Enterprise Group. This group will not only sell enterprise-level products, but would also help

clients in implementing these solutions. The implementation would follow two delivery models -- the normal integrator mode as well as the ASP one

--  though the target clientele would currently be restricted more towards the

SME and SMB.

Paras Shah, CEO of Neoteric says that the formation of the Enterprise Group does not signal Neoteric's shifting away from its

traditional business. "Our main focus is on our well-established distribution business, but this group

indicates our attempt to move up the value chain," he said. The Group is headed by Ritesh Shah in the West, and has facilities in Delhi

and Chennai, with plans to expand to Bangalore, Pune, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad and

Kolkata. Already Iomega, one of Neoteric's premier clients, has signed a contract with the Group to introduce its sub-Rs 1 lakh NAS products all over

India. Explained Sanjiv Gupta, the Singapore-based CEO of Iomega, "The need for NAS is currently growing, especially in the SME segment. We are

targeting to promote NAS in the areas where direct attached storage (DAS) deployments have become obsolete, like printing industries, academic

institutions, etc."

This new venture by Neoteric in the enterprise domain involves a series of training being imparted to its workforce by Iomega,

conducting education programs about lower-end NAS and its advantages over DAS, making available

spare parts for NAS, etc.

Iomega's entry-level NAS as a replacement for DAS would be available at Rs one lakh and the higher-end NAS products

with a capacity of 720 GB would be available for Rs three lakh.

The other products actively pushed by Neoteric's new Group include wireless networking products from

Compex, motherboards from Asus, network printers from Samsung and high-end scanners from

Umax.
