NetApp launches new datacentre solutions

NetApp has introduced new products in the FAS6000 and V6000 series. The four

new systems include the FAS6040 and FAS6080 and the corresponding V-Series

solutions, the V6040 and V6080. The FAS6040 and FAS6080 offer support for up to

1TB disk drives.

The FAS6080 system can be configured with over 1100TB of raw storage capacity

using up to 1,176 hard disk drives. Similarly, the FAS6040 system can support

over 800TB of capacity using as many as 840 disk drives. Both models have

high-bandwidth controller design that provides I/O expandability of up to 56

integrated 4Gbps fiber channel ports or 52 1Gbps Ethernet ports.

NetApp also announced new FAS2000 configurations, which now support SATA

drives internally in addition to already-shipping SAS-internal configurations.

These configurations provide low price points and high storage density in a 2U

or 4U rack footprint. The FAS2020 also supports up to four external expansion

shelves for a maximum raw capacity of up to 65TB.
